Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a holistic healing practice that uses a very light finger pressure.  This pressure is to optimize a movement pattern within the body, known as the cranial wave. Craniosacral work differs from most other modalities by its lightness of touch, and the long attentive duration of each contact. For that reason, focus and gentleness are the foundations of healing.

The Craniosacral System

The craniosacral system includes the brain, the cerebrospinal fluid, the system of membranes inside of the cranium, all 22 cranial bones, the spine and the sacrum. Craniosacral Therapy focuses on normalizing and freeing the cranial wave through the head, spine and pelvis.  In addition, Craniosacral Therapy can work with restricted areas and conditions anywhere in the body.  As a result, Craniosacral Therapy has often helped the client to access their own insight and clarity and to see there way forward in life. Craniosacral Therapy can facilitate sensitive psychic states such as past-life regression therapy.

Craniosacral Therapy - 1 Core Link 2cWhen the craniosacral system is not functioning optimally, we feel out of sorts. If the cranial bones are not in the “right place,” then the brain and central nervous system are affected and the hormonal system cannot function optimally. The human head is so delicate and suffused with vital nerve pathways, that even slight deformations of a bone’s movement or position can produce physical or psychological symptoms. When the cranial wave is distorted it diverts a disproportionate amount of energy or “chi”, lowers the strength of the immune system, and opens the door to chronic states like depression.

In fact, when the cranial wave is optimized we feel wonderful.  Workshops are given throughout the year and you can learn this gentle healing method.

“What the Navajo call ‘the wind’s child,’ Genesis calls ‘the breath of life’. It is a silent force, a field of chi, which blows throughout the craniosacral system, animates it, and infuses it with information andintelligence.”

“I was in constant pain of my sciatica nerve for many months from a compression injury of my sacrum at a health club’s exercise machine chair slipping 3 notches. This started a slippery slope of pain medicine, physical therapy and other healing modalities along my healing journey. One day along my journey Sara just happened to sit next to me on the bus. I know right then and there that my spirits helper guides sought her out for me to work with her. After one magical treatment the pain subsided. Thanks Sara!”  – Lucien, LMT, ATC

“Sara’s craniosacral massage was the key to eliminating my lower back pain. I had struggled with varying degrees of pain every morning for five months! Chiropractic treatments, months of physical therapy, and many other approaches failed to fix the problem. The pain has disappeared after the session with Sara to my amazement.  Thankfully, I have not had any reoccurrence.”  – Susan, LMT
